A pre-flight checklist for ad creative
A campaign can be technically approved and still contain a wrong crop, hard-to-read text, outdated offer, or mismatched landing page. A short pre-flight review catches avoidable errors before budget is spent.
Asset checks
- Confirm the dimensions and aspect ratio match the intended placement.
- Inspect the crop at actual display size.
- Keep essential text and logos away from edges and interface overlays.
- Check contrast, spelling, and mobile legibility.
- Use an appropriate file format and avoid unnecessary file size.
Message checks
- Make the offer and next step clear.
- Ensure claims are accurate and supported.
- Check that the creative matches the audience and landing page.
- Verify dates, prices, disclaimers, and availability.
Launch checks
- Open the destination link on mobile and desktop.
- Verify UTM parameters and analytics conventions.
- Confirm approvals and final file versions.
- Save the exported asset with a descriptive filename.
Record who checked the asset and when. That small habit makes revisions and handoffs easier to trace.
A realistic pre-flight review
Before publishing a paid social ad, a reviewer can check five items: the correct placement export, legible copy on a phone-sized preview, a working destination URL, consistent UTM values, and the right approval status. Record who checked each item so the team can resolve questions without searching through chat history.
Use the ad launch checklist and validate links with the UTM Link Builder.
Editorial note: Platform specifications and analytics interfaces change. Confirm current requirements in the channel or analytics product you use before launching a campaign.
